Limescale deposits in coffee machines lead to longer brewing times and poorer heat transfer.
This often results in reduced water output – both of which negatively affect the quality and taste of your coffee.
Over time, limescale builds up in the machine and can eventually clog the fine pipes. Limescale also promotes corrosion of the materials inside the coffee machine. Both of these issues can lead to serious damage to the machine.
Limescale deposits also increase the energy consumption of your coffee machine and are therefore harmful to the environment.

Yes, all Kamareta descalers are also suitable for use in kettles.
Yes, you can also use the Kamareta descaler for your kettle , provided you follow the instructions exactly. Here are a few important points:
Kamareta descaler was specially developed to safely and effectively remove limescale deposits.
Like coffee machines, kettles also suffer from limescale buildup caused by hard water.
Danger:
Only use the descaler if it is suitable for the material of your kettle (e.g., stainless steel or plastic). If you are unsure, consult the instruction manual or ask for help.
Would you also like a short guide on how to descale the kettle with Kamareta?

We recommend regular and timely descaling, ideally every 3 months. This ensures optimal coffee quality and a long lifespan for your machine.
However, this depends on the water hardness in your region and how often you make coffee daily.

Yes, the cleaning capsule cleans the top of the machine.
Limescale deposits are located in a different part (the boiler).
The cleaning capsule also contains a formula specifically designed to remove coffee residue.

Liquid descaler, liquid milk cleaner and of course the 2-phase cleaning tablets

Yes, the appliance still needs to be descaled. The frequency depends on the type of filter used.
Some filters have a stronger limescale-inhibiting effect than others.
However, the appliance still needs to be descaled.

TABLET FINDER

Manufacturers generally recommend taking 1 tablet every 14 days.

If the coffee grinder is not cleaned properly, the machine will lose grinding speed. Furthermore, the dosing consistency will deteriorate and the grinder's temperature will rise. Regular cleaning of the coffee grinder ensures: consistent dosing, a constant temperature, and the removal of oil and coffee residue that can clog the grinder's outlet.

With average use, we recommend cleaning the coffee grinder at the end of each day.

Drinking coffee is one of life's little pleasures. As perfect and endless as it can be. The quality of the water and coffee beans, along with a residue-free coffee machine, guarantees the ultimate coffee experience.
Fehr Chemicals in Triesen/FL conducted initial investigations into coffee and the so-called aroma killer or residue (essential oils), followed by in-depth research.
What happens inside a clean machine when 50, 100, 200 or more cups of the popular beverage are prepared daily?
The results showed that a thin film of coffee residue remained even after the first day. A series of tests revealed that this film was four times thicker on the second day if the aroma killer, i.e., the coffee residue, was not removed.
In commercial catering establishments, coffee residue must therefore be removed daily.
The handling has been improved. The powder is now packaged in a paper bag approximately 10 x 10 mm in size (similar to a tea bag).
The cleaning tablet followed. This prompted coffee machine manufacturers to integrate cleaning programs into their coffee machines.
To protect the environment and prevent phosphate deposits in the coffee machine, Fehr Chemicals developed the phosphate-free Kamareta cleaning tablet KAMARETA CAFE clean.
Cleaning tablets were developed for small fully automatic coffee machines such as Saeco and Jura.
KAMARETA CAFE clean tablets were then launched in smaller packs for private households and offices. This allowed people to enjoy coffee without coffee residue at home and in the office.
Fehr Chemicals became Kamareta Establishment.
Cleaning with Kamareta Cafe clean, the professional cleaning tablet, has become indispensable for anyone who values good coffee. Handy, efficient, and guaranteed phosphate-free.

A water filter helps reduce water hardness and filters out substances that can affect the taste and smell of the water. However, it does not completely remove limescale from the water, but typically lowers the water hardness to around 4 to 5 °dH.
Water hardness is measured in degrees of German hardness (°dH). You can easily find the water hardness on your water supplier's website. Simply search for your water supplier's name and find out the water hardness in your area.
There are also various other websites where you can look up water hardness. However, be aware that some of these websites have commercial interests and give the impression that water with a hardness of 6 °dH or higher is already "quite hard." In reality, the quality of German drinking water is excellent. Although it is under pressure due to various developments, it remains among the best in the world. Therefore, in many regions of Germany, using a water filter is not absolutely necessary.
However, water contains far more than just limescale. Substances that affect the taste or smell of the water can also impact the taste of the coffee. If you feel that your tap water has an aftertaste or, for example, smells of chlorine, a water filter can offer significant benefits.
In regions with hard water, generally above 10 °dH, the use of a water filter is recommended. Ultimately, the decision to use a water filter is yours. If you choose not to use a water filter, you should descale your coffee machine regularly.
Remember: A cup of coffee is 98.9% water. Good water quality is therefore crucial – both for the best possible coffee taste and for a long lifespan for your coffee machine.

When using a water filter, it is important to choose the right type. Different water filters are not interchangeable.
The easiest way to determine the correct water filter is to look inside the water tank and check the holder where the filter is clipped in.

Hard water puts a strain on your home, your household appliances, and ultimately your wallet. It also leads to higher consumption of cleaning products, soap, and energy, thus harming the environment.
Limescale builds up on the inner walls of water pipes. This reduces the pipe's cross-section, which significantly reduces the water flow.
The effects of hard water become particularly visible here: whitish-yellow limescale deposits on sanitary ware and shower walls, dull fittings, and unsightly water stains. Even regularly drying wet surfaces, such as the shower, cannot completely prevent this.
Thermostatic faucets are particularly sensitive to limescale deposits. The internal components, in particular, can become clogged with limescale, impairing temperature control. In the worst case, the faucets become blocked or permanently damaged.
Porous limescale deposits promote corrosion and rust formation. Both often occur together with limescale and can lead to leaks in pipes and fittings in the long term.
Coffee and espresso machines, dishwashers, and washing machines often have a shorter lifespan in areas with hard water. Combi steamers are also particularly sensitive to limescale deposits. Regular descaling or the use of a suitable water filter helps to protect the appliances and extend their lifespan.

Water hardness, expressed in degrees of German hardness (°dH), describes the concentration of calcium and magnesium minerals in the water. When heated, these minerals precipitate as calcium carbonate – better known as limescale or limescale deposits.
The higher the water hardness, the more limescale forms. This can lead to higher energy consumption, increased wear and tear on heating elements, and a shortened lifespan for household appliances. Hard water also reduces the effectiveness of soaps and detergents, often requiring a higher dosage.
The quality of drinking water in Germany is regulated by the Drinking Water Ordinance. Among other things, it sets out the requirements for drinking water quality and its regular monitoring.
Water hardness can vary considerably depending on the region. From a health perspective, however, hard water is completely harmless. Calcium and magnesium are important minerals that are a natural component of drinking water.
Water hardness is determined by its calcium and magnesium content. The higher the concentration of these minerals in the water, the harder the water.
The following classification is frequently used:
Water hardness varies depending on the region and sometimes even within individual cities or municipalities. This is because drinking water comes from different water catchment areas.
You can easily find out the water hardness at your place of residence by contacting your local water supplier or by looking it up on their website.
Limescale deposits can form even at a water hardness of around 2.7 °dH . As water hardness increases, so does limescale formation. This can have the following effects, among others:
A water filter can reduce water hardness to an optimal level. This reduces the formation of limescale deposits without completely softening the water.
